EU harmonisation on social media marketing

Pinsent Masons reports that the EU is harmonising consumer protection legislation across states, having issued guidance on various different aspects of marketing and promotion. A key part of this guidance is work around the use of social media for marketing purposes. In common with current UK legislation, the EU is looking for transparency where commercial arrangements such as payments to bloggers exist. Not that ethical social media operatives would have to change anything anyway. More here.
