So London Fashion Week closed yesterday on a high with one of the biggest stories of the season: men's day. It's a first for London to dedicate specific time to menswear and a decision that is both timely and well thought through.
The key draw for international press this season has been the return of big names to the UK capital such as Matthew Williamson from New York and Antonio Berardi from Paris, and heritage brand Burberry jetting in from Milan. But there is no guarantee that they will stay so come next season, it may be that they return to their respective fashion capitals, leaving the young talent high and dry.
Maddie Platt, head of PR for loyal London-based designer Nicole Farhi exclusively spoke to me backstage, in the video below, explaining how the young designers will be affected.
However, stories like the menswear day being added to the schedule will offer new reasons for press and buyers to swing by London and the high quality of the young designers' work this season can only illuminate what they could miss out on next season.
