Unless you have been under a rock for the last 3 months you'll know there there have been quite a few battles raging in the world of search. From new contenders (Bing/Wave) to new partnerships being forged in advertising and the holy grail of real-time search actually looking attainable, it got me thinking about percentages.
As an industry, nation and, well, world, we're still all pretty...'reliant' (?) on the big G. Over 66% of internet searches (in the US at least) come from Google, but PR pros need to know there there are other options.
QUESTION: When was the last time you started your search at Yahoo, Bing, Wolfram Alpha or gulp one of the other bazillion out there?
ANSWER : If it's less than 24 hours, you can't say you're working with the right picture about a competitor, your clients footprint, coverage. You have the picture painted by Google. Sure that's 66% and chances are it's correctish but you by no means have the full picture or is your client be ok with you knowing only 2/3 of the picture/market?
